President’s Message
Sunday, 13 Jan 2019
Welcome to West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Football Club “The LIONS” for season 2019.
The LIONS, aka. West Pennant Hills – Cherrybrook Football Club (WPHCFC) is one of the largest and most progressive amateur football clubs in New South Wales. We value strong family ties and provide opportunities for our members to play and develop their football skills in a competitive and supportive team environment, underpinned by fair play and
sportsmanship principles.
We are delighted to be able to offer football across all ages, gender and abilities again this season as we field mini, junior, mens, women’s and “football 4 all” sides from U6 to O45.
As the game continues to develop and grow, ages up to and including U11’s games will play under the brand MiniRoos (also known as small sided games or SSG), with Under 6 to Under 11 (inclusive). MiniRoos is designed for boys and girls – it is all about having fun, learning new skills and making friends while playing football in a team based non-competitive environment.
The club’s biggest growth in recent years has been to do with the success of the woman’s football in Australia. We are proud to offer girls and woman across all ages and experience an opportunity to play the beautiful game, and we are excited to continue to see squad numbers grow into 2019.
We are always looking for people to be involved with the Club and a great way to assist is to volunteer for critical roles such as Team Coaches and Managers. We have the resources to provide excellent coaching development for all our coaches with Football NSW accredited programs that run during the season.
Our Club is co-ordinated and run by a large group of volunteers. The names and contact details of the Committee and Age Co-ordinators are listed on the website for your reference. Please feel free to contact anyone on the Committee should you have any questions or suggestions.
I am always taken by the enjoyment the players, coaches, managers and spectators derive from the game of football and the friendships being formed at the Club. There isn’t a better way to get fit, learn and develop your skills and understanding of the game and most importantly make new friends whilst having fun.
We look forward to another terrific year of football and friendship with The LIONS in 2019 and I hope to see as many of you as I can during the year.
