President Update: Oh what a night! Our 50th Anniversary events kick off with a bang!
Monday, 29 Apr 2019
I hope all our players, coaches and managers enjoyed the Easter, ANZAC and school holiday break! We are back into the full swing of the season, and we expect the full draw to be released very shortly so keep an eye peeled for that.
A special mention for our under 12 boys who had a big win this week in the first round of The State Cup against Albion Park Soccer Club, well done boys through to the next round on 5th May.
A big congratulations also to our Premier League team who will play in the 5th round of the FFA cup on Wednesday the 1st May. The boys are the only GHFA association team left in the cup after the 4th round matches, which shows the scale of the achievement to date. – GO LIONS!
I am sure I speak for everyone who attended our first 50th anniversary celebration event – Comedy for a cause last month when I say it was an absolutely fantastic night. The comedians had us all 150+ of us in stitches and everyone had a ball. This gets us off to an excellent start for our next events, Mothers Day Fashion Parade and the Trivia Night before culminating in our Gala Dinner! Make sure you RSVP through the website as these events are not to be missed.
But back to the football, well done to the following teams for their excellent start to the season as they are yet to be defeated! (u12 and up)
Boys/Mens- U14/2s, U15/1s, U15/2s, U15/3s, U18/2s, AA7s, O35/3s, Premier League 1.
Girls/Women’s – U12 / 1s, AA4s, AA5s, U13/1 Red, AA6, U16/1s.
For all the mini’s and football 4 all players – I hope you are all are developing your skills and love for the game and enjoying your time on the pitch!
For those teams who would like some additional coaching or assistance – a reminder that our DOC Brad Walker runs sessions on WED evenings at Campbell Park, please register via the website as spaces are limited.
It was awesome to have current Western Sydney Wanderers player Nick Fitzgerald visit our club training last month also, taking the time to pose for photos, sign autographs, answer tons of questions, and add in some coaching tips for our players’ training. Nick is a wonderful role model for our young players, not only because he is an exceptional young man but also because he is a local having grown up in Glenorie. Pictures on our Facebook page check them out!
For all parents and players, its important you communicate clearly with your managers, coaches and all age coordinators. Information often has to move quickly through TeamApp, the website etc. as unforeseen circumstances may cause changes or cancellation of training/games. Please ensure your communication channels are open at key times (mornings of training/games) so you don’t miss anything. We endeavour to update the website immediately along with our facebook page as information becomes available.
Finally, a big thank you to all our sponsors, please support these businesses as they support us. They can all be found on our website, with links. It is such a privilege to have such reputable, local business’s supporting our great club.
GO LIONS!
